The Sabah Doctrine

The coming PRU 13 is all about choices for Sabahans.  There is the incumbents which made up of Barisan Nasional (BN) led by UMNO, there is also the Pakatan Rakyat led by PKR and not to be left behind there are the local political parties which is made up of STAR led by Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and SAPP led by Yong Teck Lee.

Every one of these choices provides their own recipe to get the support of the people.  On one hand the BN is reminding the people about their “good deeds” and the reason why they should remain as the government.  The PR is exposing BN’s misdeeds and misadventures which put Malaysia in the situation as it is now.  In addition persuading Sabahans and Sarawakian that they should form the government “because they care about the people”.  Their main Buku Jingga already shows that PR don’t care a hoot about Sabah and Sarawak, they claim Malaysia is 55 years old when all of Sabah knows Malaysia is only 49 years old.  Outpouring of resentments from Sabahans and Sarawakian in the alternative media is forcing them to come up with specific Buku Jingga i.e Buku Jingga for Sabah & Sarawak.  This unfortunately is only the rehashing of the grievances of Sabahans and Sarawakians due to the condescending treatment by the Federal government.  There is nothing earth-shattering about their promises.  A promise made by recycle UMNO leader is the same as there are no promises at all.  In some instances, PR has the audacity to give Sabahans & Sarawakians 20% of oil royalty, when 100% of the oil belongs to Sabah and Sarawak.  This does not give the necessary level of comfort to the Sabahans and Sarawakians.

The 2 local parties are just playing with the people’s sentiment.  There are NO plans or effort being made to capture at least the state government.  What they are really doing is hoping to capture a few seats which will then serve them as capital for negotiation to whoever will form the government.  Is this a choice for the people in Sabah?

Overall we can say in both side of the political divide, none of them care about the people – all they care about is themselves and the party which they subscribe to.  The people are just a means to an end – for the political party or candidate to get a seat they are not going to do anything beyond that.  Towards this end, is there any choice at all for the people?

Realizing this is the purpose of creating the Sabah Doctrine, to give the people an alternative, a choice in already muddle political scenario in Sabah.  Granted this is not a proposal made by a political party rather a group of concern Sabahans who has no interest other than just to make sure Sabah and its people gets what they deserve.
